STEAM Program

iSparkle2 is a culturally responsive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program that seeks to increase girls’ interest and confidence in science and math. Students learn to organize with math, while they research as scientists and historians by using technology, so that they can understand global development and communicate about what is needed, wanted and possible in engineering

Our STEAM objectives of this project are to increase participants interest in STEAM fields and their confidence in their abilities to master science and math subjects.

We provide young ladies with the opportunity to develop an understanding of mathematics and other STEAM concepts in a meaningful and culturally grounded context. Young women have access to powerful STEAM learning experiences that challenge them to think deeply and critically. As STEAM learners, they are empowered to use STEAM as a tool for personal and social change.

iSparkle2 STEAM reinforces the importance of higher education and aims to help young ladies develop more positive perceptions of STEAM and increase the flow of underrepresented groups to upper-level mathematics courses as well as other STEAM related degrees and careers.
